Afternoon tea is at The Goring, one of my favorite hotels in London.
A table for two…
…and a happy welcome.
First, a sweet and savory dish of custard…
…and then comes the tea.
First sandwich, cucumber and cream cheese.
Smoked salmon and crème fraîche.
Roast beef and horseradish
Ham, cheddar, and mustard.
Warm raisin scones…
…with Devonshire clotted cream, strawberry and raspberry preserves.
Another pot (I like switching teas between each pot – started with Darjeeling and finished with fresh mint).
And then it’s time for dessert. A pistachio and raspberry tart…
…followed by a passionfruit crackle. Think Ferrero Rocher, only with passionfruit and genoise involved.
Layer cake, this one was excellent. Dark chocolate genoise, chocolate cream and coffee cream. I could eat a dozen more slices.
…and a passionfruit and sea buckthorns custard on shortbread.
P.S. The hidden courtyard in the back is not to be missed ^-^
