1. Delivery from Hawai’i!

Breaking into a package of hot sauce from Maui-based


(thanks, Tim :). They make a bunch of flavors and the


is my favorite. Just four ingredients: peppers, apple cider vinegar, garlic, and sea salt. We’ve used the sauce on everything from this

2. Sunday at Gramercy Tavern. The 

Old Orleans

was just right for a cold afternoon.

3. Spotting myself in the current issue of

Tea Magazine

while in line at Whole Foods.

4. Safe from the rain at

The Carlyle Hotel

. Foie gras, cheese, and port on Tuesday.

5. The toasty currant and oat scone from Balthazar Bakery. This is

an old favorite


6. Happy start to Friday morning. Coffee on the house from the guys at

Saturdays Surf

. My daily morning routine is coffee/tea at Saturdays Surf, then something 


at Smile To-Go, and


off to wine class.

*Some asked about the wine class I’m doing – it’s a 

10-week course at the FCI/ICC

. I’m not planning to be a somm, and most of the students in the class aren’t either. Some want to open wines shops or go into wine education, others want to open cafes, and many just want to learn and be more knowledge about wines (myself included).
