Settling back into NYC mode with a visit to Red Door Spa. We’re not here for a massage (I wish) or a mani/pedi (one day). We’re here to do our hair.
My hair is fine, but it’s boring. Straight down most days, and up in a bun all other days. It’s thick so it can do stuff, but I just haven’t experimented.
We’re here to get it shampoo’ed and conditioned…I love having my hair washed, it feels so indulgent. Maybe even more relaxing than a massage. Wash, blow dry, and finish.
Nate said we’ll do it all sexy, like wavy sexy.
Sounds good to me!
But Nate, you know, the one thing my hair cannot do is HOLD A CURL. It’s Asian hair.
Don’t worry, I’ll make it work.
And he did!!
It took nearly an entire bottle of mousse and hairspray (all Kérastase) and a good hour and a half. But the waves lasted through lunch with Shoko and dinner with Pierre. Didn’t survive for Day #2, but still, longer than ever before.
A visit upstairs to see the spa’s new roof-deck (they relocated to 5th Ave and 53rd St earlier this year)…
…and the café. Still too early for lunch…
…but nothing like 11am sun and iced tea.
Took a peek into the relaxation room on the way out…
…maybe we can make this a once-a-week habit? ;)
