launched their annual Greenmarket to Gotham lunch today and invited us over to taste their summer prix fixe
showcasing purveyors from the Union Square Greenmarket. “12 Weeks, 12 Farm, 12 Menus.” Week One: Cherry Lane Farms.
Warm bread and butter
…then creamy Green Garlic Soup
poured over a dish of sunchokes, leeks, spring onions and a potato-parmesan emulsion.
Cherry Lane Farm’s Summer Squash, a colorful collection of different summer vegetables. At the center, a single goat cheese-stuffed zucchini blossom, batter and deep fried. Underneath, smoked eggplant panisse, tiny tomatoes and sauce vert.
As for dessert? My favorite part of the meal.
Strawberry Shortcake with macerated berries, white chocolate ganache and Thai basil ice cream. Here’s a closer peek at the shortcake – I could have easily gone for double servings of that plush biscuit-cake capped with strawberry semifreddo.
