NYC: Empellón Taqueria

First proper meal back in the city. The weather is unusually gorgeous, fingers crossed this holds up. 12pm Saturday. Two seats at the bar of Empellón Taqueria. We devoured the ham croissants I brought back from Saint Germain earlier in the day, extra satisfying after hand-carrying them on the 12-hour plane ride. Starting with oysters, two each from east and west coast. Served with sangrita and salsa brujo.

We also shared chilaquiles with roasted maitake mushrooms and a sunny side egg…

…and beer braised tongue tacos with potatoes and arbol chile. Learning how to cook tongue at home has been on my to-do list for years, I better get to it! Now just have to shake off this jet lag. Almost feels weird to be back in the city, so quickly jumping back into the rush. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

    Oooh, I want some real tacos too! Not that easy to find in The Netherlands…I hope jet lag leaves you soon! ;)
