A little something for your sweet tooth. With many thanks to Serious Eats, I went to the tea + champagne launch party for Cup4Cup this afternoon. It’s the new gluten-free flour from The French Laundry and Per Se (you can read more about the flour here). Lena Kwak is the chef who created this blend, and she’s only 26. Incredible.
On to the desserts! Everything in miniatures. Chocolate Tarts, Lemon Meringue Tarts, and Pâtes de Fruits. The first thing I think when I see things in mini is…afternoon tea party. It’s incredibly time and labor intensive to make miniatures at home. In my wildest dreams there would be a one-stop shop in the city where I could pick up the “best of” miniatures. Three Tarts on 9th Avenue is my go-to spot for all things tiny at the moment. But even there, the selection is fairly limited.
Miniature macarons in Pistachio, Red Hot Cinnamon, and Banana. I swore I couldn’t eat any more macarons after this incredible adventure with Serious Eats, but alas …there always seems to be room for just. one. more. ;) Banana was the best.
But always finish on a sweet note. Spoonful of red velvet cake. A fudgy dark chocolate one with cream. All the classic Bouchon Bakery treats done up tiny, and gluten-free of course. The little sugar-topped blueberry muffin on the left was still warm, bliss!
