Happy Friday! I write the ‘Sugar Rush’ column + other sweet stuff for Serious Eats.

We went crazy with macarons last week and tasted over a hundred from shops around the city. Results are highlighted in this post. Macarons from Ladurée and La Maison du Chocolat were the best by far. Part of me wanted the “winning” macarons to come from NYC (Ladurée and La Maison du Chocolat make theirs in Paris and ship it to NYC). But alas, we should really leave macaron making to the French. On to better news! The new best pies in town come from Pie Corps. They do pies in four sizes (individual, pies in mason jars, hand-held pies, and pie pops), and the owners are as sweet as the pies themselves. If I had to pick *just one* favorite, it’d be the Pear Rosemary Walnut Pie. Can’t wait for them to do pumpkin pies. And don’t forget marshmallows by 240sweet. They’re based in Columbus, Indiana but ship all over the country. Check out their flavor list here, amazing.
