Ciano’s Tomato Salad: Spicy Burrata, Pistachio, and Melons

Quick, before the official end of summer. Where are you going to get that tomato fix?

I’ve bought tomatoes from the Greenmarket to make salads at home. Sadly enough, they just don’t taste as good as when I get them in restaurants. This is one – of many things, I keep for eating out. My favorite version this summer is from Ciano. A whole tomato, bright nutty smears of pistachio, miniature melon balls and a spicy burrata quenelle. I like to save the burrata until the very end and slather it on a slice of Ciano’s still-warm bread. Baked in a wood-fired oven, decidedly irresistible. As is the whipped butter! Serious Eats has round-up of heirloom tomato dishes in the city, and I’m partial to that tomato toast from ABC Kitchen. ABC Kitchen is only a 5-minute walk from Ciano, so you could potentially do a lunch of two salads…I mean, while you can right? ;)
