In Paris, we had café express in the early morning…
…and then again with breakfast.
And on the days we woke up late (which happened more than I care to confess ;), we’d have it after lunch.
The best is when they give a little ‘bonus’ with the café express. At Cuisine de Bar, it comes with a little Poilâne shortbread in the shape of a spoon (they also make them in fork-shaped versions too). What a literally delicious way to stir your espresso.
This year I noticed more loose sugars in sticks as opposed to cube sugars. I’m still a fan of the cubes, so much more precise, compact and perfect looking!
But the best was when we made it at home and sipped away on the balcony with open windows, a late summer in Paris.
