Ask for window seat, a two-top near the piano man (who has played at The Phoenician since it opened in 1985). First, tea! Darjeeling to start. A solid selection of white, green, black and herbals…no pu’erh or oolongs.

17572639881_23bfc37bc9_cTea comes in courses. Plates at the table. The waitress presents silver platters with daily offerings. Pick as many as you desire. They do unlimited servings (like The Drake in Chicago)…not so common in the US. Clockwise from top:

  • Egg Salad | watercress, daikon sprouts, whole wheat
  • Asparagus and Garlic Herb Mousse | poached asparagus tips, boursin mousse, aged parma ham, white loaf
  • English Cucumber | seedless cucumber, fresh mint cream cheese, white pullman
  • Lemon and Thyme Chicken Salad | chicken salad, thyme, lemon, marble rye
  • Hickory Smoked Salmon | cream cheese mousse, dill, citrus, pumpernickel

17386382219_1503af7377_c…with sides of lemon curd, strawberry preserves, and whipped Devonshire cream.

17572627881_20cb832200_cSweets! One of everything:

  • Coffee Opera
  • Sablé Breton
  • Chocolate-Dipped Strawberry
  • Mango Dome
  • Éclair
  • Fruit Tartlet
  • Brandied Cherry Pomponette
  • Chocolate Bavarois

We’ll be back ^-^
