For those who have asked about where I get my matcha from…
…I get it from a Japan-based friend in the tea business. For the past few months, he’s been sending small samples to taste, and after going through a number of different producers and regions, I found one that felt “right.” Like a matcha that I would want to drink every morning. First thing out of bed! After brushing my teeth ^-^
Scoop, sift, whisk, and drink. It’s a soothing ritual.
And in NYC where days most fast with adventure, it’s so nice to have a calming constant, a rhythm.
Allen shot these beautiful photos (thank you!!)…and in an image-driven world, these make a difference in conveying just how gentle and kind the “ritual” of making matcha can be.
And plus, it’s delicious.
I started off sharing the matcha with friends. People who I knew would enjoy it. And when I ran out, we got more…which is now available here. This is my first time doing e-commerce, so email me (kathyylchan @ gmail) if you have questions. The matcha is from Uji, hand-harvested and then ground by one of the leading mills in the area. We have the matcha packed in Japan, and ship from NYC.
My goal isn’t to be a tea seller in the traditional sense (we had a crystal company so I know the pains of dealing with physical inventory ;), but if I come across great tea or teaware (more on that soon!), I’d love to share the discovery.
Drink up ^_^
