There are a few changes to afternoon tea at The Kahala…because it’s the hotel’s 50th anniversary ^_^
All the usual sweets like lilikoi madelines and brown sugar shortbreads have been replaced with “Golden Jubilee” sweets just for 2014. Think Mai Tai Tarts with almond frangipane, fresh pineapples, and a dark rum glaze.
Blue Hawaii macarons with orange-curaçao ganache.
There’s a Wili Wili Bar featuring a shortbread base topped with coconut, dark chocolate, and marshmallows…
…but my favorite of the quartet is The Kahala Coconut Cake. Chiffon cake, coconut pastry cream, and whipped cream. So simple, so good.
