I’ll find any excuse for leisurely lunches.

So when we woke to a snowstorm and -1F temperatures this morning, I phoned Greg and suggested, lunch? I craved Gotham, and more specifically, sweets from Ron Paprocki

An hour later, a table for two. Barbera and Barolo. A winter soup of parsnips, celery root, and sunchokes. A finish of compressed pears and pomegranate emulsion.

House-cured sea trout with shredded honey crisp apples, shaved fennel, radish, dill, and cucumbers. Lemon crème fraîche on the side.

Chatham cod for Greg, served atop snow peas and kaffir lime, jasmine rice in coconut lobster curry.

My chocolate cravings go hand in hand with duck or steak. So today, strip loin done rare with braised greens, borlotti beans, roasted carrots, and a bordelaise sauce.

Desserts! The more the merrier. Pumpkin panna cotta with warm ginger bread and maple ice cream…

…and a Tropical “Vacherin” composed from vanilla parfait, lilikoi, mango paper, and housemade coconut sorbet.

Finishing on a Gotham signature, the chocolate cake (one of my favorites in the city) with salted almond ice cream.
