Chef Rudi Liebenberg from Mount Nelson Hotel in South Africa (an Orient-Express property) was in NYC last week. And what better way to celebrate than with lunch! Snapshots from a beautiful and delicious feast of South African cuisine at 21 Club.

Beetroot and kohlrabi salad (pickled, roasted, and fried) with macadamia nut “sour cream” and mustard greens.

Pairing: Bellingham Citrus Grove Chenin Blanc 2013

Mushroom and brinjal ravioli and terrine with slow dried tomatoes and watercress salad.

Pairing: Bellingham Bernard Series SMV 2011

For dessert, a dark chocolate sponge cake with coffee-poached pears, and hazelnut ice cream. Perfectly decadent.

Pairing: Boschendal Vin d’Or NV

Always love a lunch that leaves you satisfied but never stuffed.

P.S. Afternoon tea at Mount Nelson Hotel is legendary…might we take a trip there soon? ;)
