Taipei | L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon

Hello from Taipei! I landed Sunday morning and went straight to L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon for lunch. It’s been a while since I treated myself to a nice solo meal. Good things happen when dining alone ^_^

Started with a beautiful, dry French chardonnay from Domaine Meo-Camuzet…

…and one of my all-time favorite gazpachos.

Squid stuffed with caviar d’aubergine…

…and Le Petit Pois – pea veloute over velvety onion custard. Finished with mint.

Spit roasted pork belly, chicharrons, summer vegetables…

 …and that oh-so-perfect pommes purée.

Then it’s time for dessert. Lemon mousse with vanilla ice cream…

…and a pot of earl grey tea (the only other tea they offer is chamomile).

Fresh orange macarons and a canelé…

…plus the 2004 Symphonie de Novembre from Domaine Cauhapé in Jurançon.

Big thank you to Benoît the sommelier for keeping me company and making lunch that much more memorable. Can’t wait to return.

P.S. Joël Robuchon has a Salon de Thé just two floors below the restaurant…

…and I am loving his take on the traditional Chinese mooncake. Just in time for the mid-autumn festival.
