My parents went back to Hawai’i this morning and my sister started school. It’s just me in London for the next few days, alone. And I’m loving every second of it. I checked into The May Fair today and treated myself to a peaceful, luxurious afternoon tea at Brown’s. I used to spend a lot of time alone…remember ?
Someone once commented about how important* it was to keep those because it becomes more and more as you get older. When I first read that comment (I was 21 at the time), I was like no way. I’ll always have my cave days. And then you get boyfriends and other things. Soon your time is all packed with stuff. So much stuff. Where did the time go??
So I scheduled these extra days in London as a cave-vacation. Extended Cave Day. I’m going to do all the things I like to do without worrying about schedule and planning. I’m going to explore the city by foot and bus, have afternoon tea every single day (twice a day if I feel like it ;), dessert for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Espresso and biscuits. Hotel bars (I LOVE hotel bars). And bubble baths, super fluffy bathrobes, hot tea, and a good book in the evening.
