One Afternoon in Hoboken

Welcome to Hoboken! It’s just a 15-minute PATH ride from the 9th Street station.

We’re meeting Jess for lunch at The Taco Truck. Four types of salsa, guacamole and chips. Agua frescas to drink…jamaica/hibiscus for each and pineapple to share.

Where to begin? Clockwise from bottom right: crispy catfish, grilled shrimp with pico de gallo, mushrooms with lime-pickled onions. Dessert is at the top corner…

…fried sweet plantains with cajeta sauce. I could eat a bucket of these.

Next stop….

….Sweet Bakery on Garden Street.

One spiced carrot cupcake with cream cheese frosting. One black bottom cupcake – a chocolate cake with cream cheese and chocolate chip swirl. Guess I was in a cream cheese mood. Ordered it with a hot tea to stay. Perfect Friday afternoon.

One more stop before heading back in the city. Fiore’s Deli!

The mozzarella is as good as they say.

Proof.

Ate a quarter pound of smoked mozzarella in the nearby park. Took home a half pound of the mozzarella salad to snack on…

…and a whole pound of fresh mozzarella (still a little warm!) for dinner.
