…we took the TGV from Paris to Avignon.
We rented a home in Domazan. Off the beaten path (the GPS couldn’t find it ;), but at the same time still central so that we could drive to many cities in less than an hour.
And we did! We went to Nimes…
…and Pont du Gard.
We went to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence…
…where we found this little shiny, heheh. I get more satisfaction when allocating money towards experiences as opposed to material goods, but this one is an exception.
And there was Arles, of course.
On the day we drove to Cannes (just a 3-hour drive), we stopped in Aix-en-Provence.
And then, ahh Cannes!!
Cannes was our “home base” for the second half of our trip in the south. We stayed at the residences of Le Grand Hotel right on La Croisette.
Ideal for people watching and afternoon (plus morning and evening!) rosé on the terrace.
From Cannes, we traveled to Monaco. This is the “old” Monaco…
…and this is Monte Carlo/the “new” Monaco.
We had an amazing dinner at Hotel de Paris that I’m still dreaming about.
Between the cheese course and dessert, we stepped out onto the terrace to catch the quarterly pyrotechnic competition in Monaco. The skies looked as if it was raining gold.
There was St. Paul de Vence…
…and finally the Cap d’Antibes, home to Hotel Du Cap Eden Roc. I’ve had this fantasy hotel on my radar since I was in middle school so you can just imagine… ;)
