NYC: Back Forty West

Sunday, April 8, 2012 0 No tags Permalink 0

A simple Sunday lunch. I miss Savoy, but newly opened Back Forty West is an ideal replacement. Will be back for the rest of the menu…think Fried Chicken & Waffles, Pumpkin & Pistachio Caponata. And a slice of German Apple Cake, yes indeed.

Starting off with Crispy Pork Face Nuggets, clever bites made from an entire pig’s head (see here for more details). Served with tomatillo jam and pickled red onions.

A Grilled Kale & Escarole Salad, outfitted in a parmesan dressing with whole white anchovies, fried capers, and chickpeas.

And the burger of course. Served on Orwasher’s potato roll. Added heritage bacon, Cabot cheddar, and rosemary fries. Might as well go all out. Make sure to ask for the spicy housemade ketchup. I’m a diehard ketchup + mayo girl when it comes to fries.
