Ladurée’s Holiday Card

A little surprise came in the mail yesterday. A special holiday card…from Ladurée no less. One of the prettiest cards I’ve seen all year. The pastel green box (which resembles a miniature hat box!) is the exact same shade as Ladurée’s shopping bag.

There’s a drawing of the Eiffel Tower on the cover. Pull open and wooooshhh, a million discs spill out, declaring Bonne Annee in golden cursive. How could you not love that?

Oh but there’s more…

This “card” arrived with an edible companion. A winter gift box of white and sky blue skies, sliver snowflakes big and small.

Inside, the newest macaron flavor to join the family. Chestnut and Pear – a most holiday appropriate pairing. The buttercream, lush, is mix of both elements and it’s studded with tiny roasted chestnut bits. This might replace pistachio as my favorite flavor – it’s the least sweet of all their macarons and the borderline airy buttercream is bliss. Devoured one too many in a sitting, a steaming pot of earl grey tea on the side.

Hi Kathy~I have always loved chestnut confections since they are rarely cavity-inducing sweet. How did the pear pairing compare? [Sorry, I had to do it. Couldn't quite find an effective use for "payer" though.]Surprises are nice, but dainty cards and macarons to boot? Fantastic! It pays to be a fan!

Hi Cassandra! Hehe, a sweet pun! ^_^ The pairing was so perfect – mostly pear flavor on the buttercream, punctuated by the little chestnut pieces. Put a big smile on my face! :)

Hi Kathy-Just a curiosity: was it Ladure NYC that sent you the card? For your involvement in spreading their brand and products?I simply adore macarons and anything peculiarly precise. Your site has made it so much easier to get my fill of intensely feminine, neat and heart-warming luxuries. Thanks!
