There’s an hour to spare between appointments near Central Park. How about we wander into hotels and daydream? Over lunch with Amelie on Friday our conversation was centered on how grand hotel lobbies were akin to mini-museum and gallery experiences. And the best part – it’s completely free to visit, explore at your leisure.
Luxury hotels and chic boutique hotels – there’s everything in our city, each with charms and little quirks that could easily transport you to another world. Surely impossible to pick a favorite hotel, no need to bother. And if you feel like treating yourself, who’s to stop you from cocktails and nibbles at the bar? How indulgent!
When I was in elementary/middle school all my report cards came delivered with similar comments, “Kathy has potential to do so much better if only she would stop daydreaming all the time…” Ahh but if only they knew how much satisfaction I derived from daydreaming! After all, isn’t that where all great ideas stem from? Mom chided me from doing so, and then Dad encouraged it. Between them both, and with some help from my sister, I like to think I came out pretty decent in the end.
