THELEwala: officially our new favourite place for delivery. I’ve mentioned this relatively new Macdougal Street spot before, and you can find more info on it here and here. We walk there on the weekends, but for weeknight dinners when cooking is not an option and we don’t want to venture out the building, hello THELEwala.
Rolls, it’s all about the Nizami Rolls. I order Lime Paneer (center) most often – grilled cheese, red onions and coriander. Pierre always gets a few for himself. Think Thelewala Chicken (left) with fried eggs, red onions, spices and lime, and Chapli Roll (right) of lamb, red onions, lime and fried eggs. About $5 apiece. Fillings are laid out and rolled up on housemade paratha bread. One is a snack, two is a meal.
On occasions we switch it up and order items from the non-roll section of the menu. Keep your eyes peeled for Tawa Chicken Fry ($8). It’s sauteed with onions, coriander and a signature blend of masala spices. Comes with two parathas. I always finish the bread but make sure to save some chicken (and the sauce!!) for breakfast the next day. Warm up in a fry pan and scramble with two eggs. Rewarding.
And don’t forget a cup of housemade Masala Chai. Only $1.50! Heheh.
