Saturday Adventures

Work all morning, and then out in the afternoon! This is a fall day. A five-minute walk takes us to Joe’s Coffee on Waverly Place. One hot coffee, one hot tea.

Then we are off, west on Christopher, up W10th Street, and circle around on W4th Street. The West Village is a maze and we love it for just that reason.

A townhouse on Perry Street all decked out for Halloween!

We swing by the recently opened Doughboys bakery (named after this doughboy) on 535 Hudson Street for a little snack, some “research,” and hot tea.

They serve tea from SerendipiTea and coffee from the MUD. Cupcakes, cookies, brownies, pies, and pound cakes galore :)

Hello, Pierre!

Walking north to Meatpacking – a little shopping is good for the soul. We spotted this crazy alien looking thing right at the entrance of the Highline. That Golden Retriever was even more excited about it than I was, ahaha.

Then it was time to head back south and east, to Patisserie Claude. Two large tarts please. One plum and one apricot. We got the last two big tarts in the photo. Bringing dessert and wine to another raclette dinner party at Ben and Sanu’s place tonight.

We forgot to check out the puppies at Le Petit Puppy on Christopher Street! Back up Gay Street (where this photo was taken), around the corner, puppies in the window. We often talk, but I doubt we’ll get a puppy…just not enough space in our apartment.

Murray’s Cheese is so close, we had to stop in there as well. A half-pound of Asher Blue, s’il vous plaît.

Next door to Murray’s is Faicco’s Pork Store, home to awesome sausages. A half-pound of spicy Italian, and half-pound of sweet Italian sausages. We’re making pasta for dinner tomorrow night.

Up Carmine…wait pizza! Are you hungry? Yes! Are you? Yes, yes! We split a cheese slice – perfect timing, just out of the oven, and bottle of of Coke. Ahh that feels good.

Now go east on west 3rd Street. All the way to Lafayette, and straight though the front doors of Astor Place Wines! Four bottles of Malbec and Pinot Noir…

…two to bring to dinner, and two to keep at home.

Looks like such a great and relaxing day. Saturdays are the day to just wander around and soak up all the good food and weather and relaxation vibes! I ALWAYS get lost in the west village.

Hi Natalie! Totally agree!! I love just doing what I call "happy errands" on Saturdays. Took me about three years, but now I can navigate the WV. The completely illogical intersection of W4th Street and W10th Street always makes me laugh :)Thanks Kat! :)
