Sunday Morning Drinks

Craving something different this Sunday morning. A little spark, a little fizz to lift the grey weather. A slow pour of pure Lilikoi Purée and Pellegrino. No need for measurements. Adjust to taste. No sugar either. The tart pucker, a bold zip tempered by gentle bubbles is what sets this apart. Sundays are for starting the week clean and fresh.

Always make sure to keep stashes of fruit purées in the freezer, you never know when they will come in handy. I try to make my own, but when not possible (or when I’m too lazy), Perfect Purée has come to the rescue on more than one occasion.

I’ve been a homesick lately and lilikoi and mangoes are always on my mind. The lilikoi purée for this drink was extra from Lilikoi-Caramel Pâtes de Fruits I concocted last weekend. It was supposed to be just lilikoi (no caramel), but in a forgetful moment I left the stove unattended and it caramelized. Hooo boy did it caramelize! The final product was a cross between a classic chewy caramel and pâtes de fruit. Delicious nonetheless.

Didn’t you hear? Accidents are blessings in disguise.

Hahaha! Now I'm sorry I didn't buy a mango at Times – what stopped me was the price. $3.99/lb! They were local and HUGE – either Keitt or Rapozo. Pates de fruit look yum!

Hi Soos! Whoa, that's so pricey for mangoes…my mom usually gets them at Chinatown. I'm a sucker for Pirie mangoes ^_^
