Hawaii: Yu Chun Korean Restaurant

Cold black noodles are the lure at Yu Chun, which recently relocated next door to the McCully Car Wash. Check out the menu here...man, it's only 8am here in NYC, but I would do near anything to fly back to Hawai'i for a quick lunch!! ;)
Mom and I each get our own order of the naengmyun, which comes with the slushy cold broth on the side.
I love the noodles but the broth is something I don't think I will ever get used to. The idea of savoury icy soup sends unpleasant shivers down my spine.
We also split an order of the kalbi, because you definitely need something hot and meaty to counter the cold, chewy noodles.
Banchan here is unremarkable, but oh well, you can't win everything ;)

hmm, i've had naengmyun in Palisades Park, served with ice on top, but i'm confused about that broth on the side, which i haven't seen before. and i've had a LOT of Korean food.

I'm really enjoying reading through all your vacation posts from Honolulu! How does this place compare to Sorabol (which I *love*)?

All I can say is YUM! Thanks for sharing with us this teriffic post as I have always been a big fan of Korean Food. I would surely visit this place on my next visit to Hawaii and I would also try to find some of the best coffee shops Hawaii has to offer.
