Nighttime malassadas with my mom (she really is the best ^_^) at Champion Malasadas. Made to order and only $.60 apiece. $.60!!! How awesome is that for something made to order?Piping hot, we ate them in the car with the windows down. Steamy! Sugar dusted and super crispy on the outside. They're lighter than I remembered. Malassadas put other forms of fried dough to shame ;)
And one Guava Chiffon Cake for the hour after. Just one more reason to love Hawai'i. Champion Malasadas

my favorite malasada!
Huzzah! It's my second favourite...after the ones from the Punahou Carnival, hehe ^_^
Hey Kathy - That it's lighter than I remembered sounds promising..... I always thought they were too heavy/doughy like cake.... I guess I'm just old and prefer the lighter versions!
Hey Kirk!
Yup! They must have changed something in the recipe. I can go both ways for malassadas...the Punahou ones are always doughy and on the heavy side...but I love those as well, hehe :)
I love the malasadas from Champion! We just got some this week and omg so good. When is the Punahou Carnival? Might have to stop by and check out the malasadas there.
