Don't have to go all the way to Honolulu for a Spam Musubi....there's a place just around the corner from where I live in Forest Hills that features this Hawaiian treat on its menu!

Having said that, I am going back to Honolulu for another infusion of Aloha - after living Hawai'i for 8 years, it's part of my DNA.

I'll have an extra box of Leonard's Malasadas for you!

Kat!
Yeah! :D

Hey Mark!
Thanks so much, I was so nervous...first time on the radio! :)

Hey Ann!
Spam Musubi in Forest Hills?! Can you pass on the name/address of this place? Hawai'i does have some sort of crazy magic doesn't it? I'll always miss it no matter how long I live in NYC :) Thanks for the malassadas, hehe ;)

Is there a chance that you might have taped the radio segment? I would love to hear it. We always like to hear our local girls do good in NYC! Aloha!

Hey Kirk!
Yes, yes!! ^_^

Hey Kayoko!
Thank you! Hehee, kitchen food theft is always an interesting issue :)

Hey Anon!
Hahaha, thank you! :) I tried my best not to stumble and stutter on words - so nervous! ^_^

Hey Anon!
Just click on the "see/listen here" link in the post and it takes you to the WNYC site. From there you can just hit the play button right beneath where it says "Spam Musubis on Serious Eats" and it'll play a recording of the segment! ^_^

Great job! It was also cool to hear your voice after reading your blog for so long :-)

Very nice job, Kathy. My father loved spam his whole life because it was a staple for the GI's when he was stationed in Italy during WWII. He probably never tasted sushi in his life, but he would have loved the spam musubi.

Thank you for directing me to the WNYC site.

You did a great job! You didn't sound nervous at all. In fact, you sound very at ease. Thanks for bringing a little local culture to NYC.

I agree with Marianne - nice to hear your voice after reading your blog for so long. Everything connects now - blog, face and voice....hehehe

Shar!
Heehe, I wish! ^_^

Hey Marianne!
Aww, thank you! I tired not to sound all high-pitchy, nervous and stuff :D

Hey JFR!
Thanks! Spam also became popular in Hawai'i as a result of WWII. It must have made quite an impression on us islanders, for it's just as popular decades later ^_^ I've never met a (non-vegetarian) who didn't like spam musubi :)

Hey Anon!
Thanks for the sweet comment! I'm glad all three parts - voice, face and blog, all connect together now, hehe :D
