OK! I’m going to do it! First of all, thanks for all your advice, what I really appreciate was how decisive everyone was…no, “well pursue your dreams if that’s what feels right”,…none of the, “it’s really your decision to make” (even though it is :)). I’m really grateful you all took the time to give your input – and now I’m going to act on it!

I will be an employed auditor as of fall 2007!!! Woohoo. Now doesn’t that sound exciting. Even more exciting…expense account lunches!!! But one more problem needs to be solved. I got a call from the KPMG recruiter yesterday congratulating me on an offer. Exciitttttting! So…PwC or KPMG? I’d didn’t receive the offer package yet so I don’t know how much the salary is…but…their office has an awesome pizza truck parked outside for lunch everyday. And the recruiter is mighty good looking…like reeeeaaaaly good looking…not that that should have any influence on my decision!

Well at least I feel happier now, knowing that I’m heading in some sort of direction! I like options, but sheesh, they can get confusing! :)

Hey Kathy – I’ve browsed your blog several times, but have never left a comment. I faced a similar dilemma just a few weeks ago. I am currently a junior at Cornell, and my decision was iBanking or something food related? I decided to go with the former, and am pursuing a banking internship for the summer. I figured that food will always be a (big) part of my life, but finance is something that I should have as a foundation early in my career. I think you made a great decision and congratulations! -Jen

i watch gilmore girls too…at least i used to :Danyways…sounds like companies cant help but hire you. both are great companies to work for, so i think it would come down to the type of experience + room to move up that they can offer you. having a better initial salary is great, but it’s always better to choose what will give you greater room to grow in the long run.

congrats! I think that was a wise decision to make. Now you can experience 1 year of “The Office” to know what the corporate world is like – that way, you’ll know exactly what you’re missing when you go to culinary school… KPMG or PWC? Well, you got a Top 5 pick, so I don’t even know if it really matters, smart girl!

hi kathy! Awesome! Awesome! i’m happy for you! u are very fortunate and really smart to have so many options. my advice would be to go with “the better” culture–one that fits you. You typically can tell from just talking to employees. Pick the one that you feel more comfortable with, so that you can wake up wanting to go to work everyday.henry chan

Hey Ron!Thaaaanak you!Hey Chubbypanda!Heheh, I guess it is…that cute recruiter could be the swaying factor :)Hey Indah!Enjoy Gregoire! I hear they change the bread pudding flavors every month, so be sure to try it if the flavor calls to you!Hey Kirk!Thank you! :) I can finally afford to eat out more now, hehe!Hey Jennifer!NO WAY! My BEST FRIEND EVER is a junior at Cornell!!! You know a Stephanie Shao? I was also thinking about ibanking (My freshman year was at NYU – finance and accounting major), but the hours would have driven me insane, hehe :) Good luck with your internship this summer! We will make money so that we can eat well – it all works out in the end :) Hey Pallavi! Thanks so much! I sure hope everything works out – for the both of us! :)Hey Elmo!Thank you! Maybe I should start watching Gilmore Girls…I’m a girl and I haven’t even seen a single episode! Is it really that good? :) Maybe we could have a Gilmore Girls and com tam fest, hehe!Hey Ed!Man, I’m missing out – I’ll make sure to catch the next episode! Your point about looking out for the long run is very importnat, and something that I think may would tend to overlook. I could easily see myself being drawn to the higher offer without even thinking twice – thanks for pointing that out for me! :)Hey Baxterita!Thank yooouuu! I hope I made the right decision – now there’s nothing to do but look forward it! :)Hey Henry! Thanks for the advice! Firm culture is definitely more imporant than people give credit for – I’ll practically be living with these people!…AHHH! I can’t believe I’ll be EMPLOYED in less than a year…it all happens SO FAST!
